Use your Shaggy Rugs to liven up your rooms.

I often find that one of my rooms lacks a certain something. I need a touch of colour or style to liven things up and to stop my decor becoming boring. I find that shaggy rugs in bright colours certainly do a lot for the look of some of my rooms.

The advantage of shaggy rugs is that they use texture to add interest. Instead of a plain pile you have the shaggy effect which lends itself to bold, plain colours. That means you can use them anywhere if you choose the correct colour and shade for your colour scheme. In by living room I have a sheepskin style shaggy rug in white. It is washable so it is easy to keep clean in spite of the plain colour and it really adds to the comfortable atmosphere in my living room, especially when the darker nights and the colder weather are arriving. There is nothing nicer on a cold winter's night than to snuggle up in front of the fire on my white shaggy sheepskin rug with a warming glass of something to ward away the winter chills. It also has the advantage of being made from acrylic which is a real bonus if you allergic to the real thing, as so many of us are. You can also get them in different shades if you feel like a change from the conventional white.

In my dining room I have a pair of matching shaggy rugs with a sparkling hue, which is really attractive. I like to entertain a lot and these rugs give my dining room a distinctive look. They are blue in colour and pick up the colour of my dining room chairs. I found it easy to match the colour with these shaggy rugs as I find there is such a wide range of colours and hues on offer. The sparkle effect and the deep shag pile give the entire ambience I need without detracting from my furniture.

Most of my shaggy rugs are plain as I use them to complement the colours of my furnishings and I don't want a bright pattern to detract from this. An exception is in my guest bedroom, where I have a shaggy rug which has an abstract design on it. My guest bedroom is fairly minimalistic and I felt that it needed something to add interest. The ideal thing was a shaggy rug and I chose one in a neutral beige with red and grey swirls. It has the unique texture which is common to all shaggy rugs and is soft underfoot. The red picks up the colour of the pattern in my curtains and duvet colour, while the beige tones in with the walls. The result is a peaceful room with splashes of colour here and there, and my guests often say how comfortable they find it. I have a similar rug in the bathroom, mainly for the softness underfoot as you climb out of the bath, except that the colour tones are blue rather than red. I find shaggy rugs are the ideal complement to all the rooms in my house.
