Ways You Can Decorate a Child's Room Without Breaking the Bank

Decorating a child's room does not have to be an expensive proposition. In fact, children often find joy in decorating their rooms with the simplest of things, especially if they can help. Involving your child in the decorating process can be a great way to let them explore their own creative talents, plus it can help give them a great sense of pride in the end results. If you are planning to redecorate your child's room, here are some creative ideas that just might inspire you.

Pick a Theme

Young children are often especially fond of having a theme for their bedroom. It could be a cartoon character, a hobby or activity, or a favorite animal. Decorating a child's room around a theme can often produce great results. Using a theme can make it easy to coordinate the room's decor, since you will already have built-in inspiration and guidance. However, it is important not to go overboard with the theme. For example, if your child chooses a cartoon character, resist the urge to purchase too many themed bedroom accessories. Less is often more when it comes to decorating a bedroom with a theme. Choose a few key decorating accessories, such as a bedspread printed with the character, a couple of room accessories, and the window toppers. Then, purchase most of the other bedroom accessories in colors that match the chosen theme. Not only will this decorating method help keep the room from appearing too "busy," but it can also be a less expensive approach. Older children and teens often prefer a more subtle decorating approach, such as focusing on one or two of their favorite colors.

Playful Accessories for Your Wall

Make your room complete with some really fun wall accessories. Wall accessories are not necessarily just for fun, they can even serve a functional purpose. You might like to add a brightly painted hook rack or wall shelf. One very economical way to decorate your walls is to use picture frames. Fill them with artwork that your child has created, posters, or photos that they love. You can inexpensively add a great look to the walls by painting them with designs, or adding stencils or wall decals. One creative idea is to paint a wall with chalkboard paint; your child then has a large area on which to practice his or her art. Once the paint has dried, present your child with a box of colored chalk and let the decorating begin.

Hobbies as Room Decor

If your child has a favorite hobby or collection, why not use it as the inspiration for decorating their room? Not only can this decorating method be a lot of fun, but it is also a good way to get hobbies and collections out of drawers and displayed where they can be viewed and enjoyed. For example, if your child collects sports cards, you can arrange them in picture frames to use as a wall decoration. Or, a collection of favorite stuffed animals can be displayed on a wall shelf, instead of remaining hidden in the toy box.

Tips For Card Making Ideas

Being a keen crafter myself I have always spend a lot of my time trying to find and invent new and interesting card making ideas.

Card making ideas can be as complex or as simple as you desire but knowing that someone will receive something that has been personally made and created by you will bring joy to both you and the receiver.

Sending someone a personal card that is different from any other is sending something that will be treasured and remembered. Knowing someone has spent time and effort to produce something that is personal to the receiver is better than a gift.

Ideas for your cards do not need to be expensive, quite often you will be able to use materials from around your home that you may have thought to throw away. Before you discard anything always ask yourself

Will this add texture to a card?
Could the colour be used?
Could the item be broken down or used as an embellishment for card making ideas
Could it be used as a form of storage for you craft items?

When I first began card making I took got most of my cards making ideas from magazines, the internet and by looking at cards already made in shops. I would take the ideas and try to re create them myself using bits and pieces from around the house.

Its surprising what you can produce from a few pieces of paper and some ribbon if you set your mind to it.

When you are trying to produce card making ideas it is important to have a clean surface, there is nothing worse than creating something unique only to find it has a dirty mark on it.

I find a large cutting matt is the best surface to work on, by using a cutting mat you can also cut your paper as and when you need to with out damaging your tables or what ever surface you are working on.

If you are using a scalpel to cut paper or card for your card making ideas always remember to check that the blade is sharp other wise it will drag the paper when cutting and leave an unattractive tatty edge.

Using different colored paper and fabrics to create the background of a card it the best way to start you can even attach photos or dried flowers to give it a more personal touch.

Rubber stamps and embossing stencils will also produce a very effective look to any card making ideas.

What ever card making ideas you produce as long as it is personal to the receiver and is based on things they enjoy your cards will be warmly accepted and very much appreciated.

Start Your Home Remodeling Projects Today

Whether you decide to sell your house or apartment or not, a professional-quality home plan can drastically increase the overall look and the value of your home.

In between two working days, people often only look for relaxation in the evenings. Weekend responsibilities devour weekends, and before we know it, several years have passed before we're ready to tackle remodeling. Where is the best place to start? How can you possibly coordinate a remodel?

First, you will need to take the time to consider what parts of your home need attention first. Focus on one room at a time, and then the overall picture. Many people find it practical to make their initial remodeling investments of time and money in the kitchen and bathrooms. These high traffic areas tend to be most in need of repair and also tend to add value to your home more than other rooms you might work on later.

To get ideas for your remodel, you need to research every option available to you for inspiration. Buy or borrow remodel books and magazines. Watch home remodel shows on television. Visit open houses in your area, noting the design of the rooms you plan to remodel. Anywhere you can seek information can help you in the research phase.

If you go to expos, visit showrooms or attend open houses, make sure you ask experts a lot of questions that can help define your ideas and shape your thoughts. Also, when visiting your friends' and relatives' homes you admire, try to do the same.

It is up to you to ask for the help you need as you plan your remodel. You need to interact with people, consulting with professional designers or contractors as needed. Nothing will happen unless and until you ask questions and become involved with the people who can make remodeling happen.

Ultimately, you will also need to coordinate efforts among all of the parties involved in the design of your home. This may include supply store personnel, contractors, painters and electricians. Without communication, your plans simply cannot be brought together.

With the right approach, many people find remodeling an exciting and enjoyable adventure. Once you have remodeled one room of your home with professional assistance, you may find you need less help with the second or third room you tackle.

Take notes and keep a careful log of all your successful planning efforts. This will make it much simpler to undertake future remodels, or other improvements throughout your home.

220 Volt Refrigerator - Stocking Frozen Food Products in Low Power Consumption

An old refrigerator will require more energy and power to run, making it one of the causes of high electric bills each month. It might not keep your food cold and frozen properly, resulting in frequent spoilage. If you want to save money and cut your electricity costs, you are better off buying a new refrigerator that is more energy efficient and will help lower your monthly power consumption. One of the types of refrigerators you should consider is the 220 volt fridge. Many brands and models of 220 volt refrigerators can efficiently help you stock frozen food products for a longer period of time while ensuring superb energy efficiency and better power consumption in the long run.

When shopping for a 220 volt refrigerator, make sure that it is offered by a leading and reputable store that is known for carrying high-quality branded household electronic equipment and appliances. Some online stores can meet and beat the price of their competition, so you can be sure to buy a 220 volt refrigerator at the best price, while enjoying a hassle-free shopping experience regardless of which brand you choose, like Sharp, Panasonic, Whirlpool, Samsung, and Frigidaire.

Refrigerators are typically rated according to energy efficiency standards. Look for an EU energy label, which will indicate grades like A (the best) and G (the worst) in terms of energy use. The scale can go beyond A to A++ for freezers and refrigerators. The best 220 volt refrigerators bear the blue logo that states, 'Energy Saving Recommended'. This means that they meet the strict government and Energy Saving Trust criteria for energy savings. But beyond the ratings, you should consider the size fridge, too. EU ratings are often based on energy consumption per cubic foot or liter of storage. Hence, while an A-rated refrigerator that is large may be more energy efficient, it may consume a higher amount of electricity compared to a small B-rated fridge.

You can buy a small 220 volt refrigerator if you want something that is cheaper to run, but to be sure that you can get the best value for your money, examine the annual consumption figure expressed in kWh on the energy label. The lower the number, the more economical your fridge will be. Of course, energy efficiency can be further achieved with some actions, too. For instance, make sure that there is at least 10cm of space between the 220 volt fridge and the wall. This way, the coils behind the fridge can work efficiently. Moreover, be sure to keep the coils dust-free by vacuuming them every two to three months after unplugging the fridge. For more energy savings, keep the temperature between three and five degrees Celsius, and your freezer should be at -18 degrees Celsius.

Use your Shaggy Rugs to liven up your rooms.

I often find that one of my rooms lacks a certain something. I need a touch of colour or style to liven things up and to stop my decor becoming boring. I find that shaggy rugs in bright colours certainly do a lot for the look of some of my rooms.

The advantage of shaggy rugs is that they use texture to add interest. Instead of a plain pile you have the shaggy effect which lends itself to bold, plain colours. That means you can use them anywhere if you choose the correct colour and shade for your colour scheme. In by living room I have a sheepskin style shaggy rug in white. It is washable so it is easy to keep clean in spite of the plain colour and it really adds to the comfortable atmosphere in my living room, especially when the darker nights and the colder weather are arriving. There is nothing nicer on a cold winter's night than to snuggle up in front of the fire on my white shaggy sheepskin rug with a warming glass of something to ward away the winter chills. It also has the advantage of being made from acrylic which is a real bonus if you allergic to the real thing, as so many of us are. You can also get them in different shades if you feel like a change from the conventional white.

In my dining room I have a pair of matching shaggy rugs with a sparkling hue, which is really attractive. I like to entertain a lot and these rugs give my dining room a distinctive look. They are blue in colour and pick up the colour of my dining room chairs. I found it easy to match the colour with these shaggy rugs as I find there is such a wide range of colours and hues on offer. The sparkle effect and the deep shag pile give the entire ambience I need without detracting from my furniture.

Most of my shaggy rugs are plain as I use them to complement the colours of my furnishings and I don't want a bright pattern to detract from this. An exception is in my guest bedroom, where I have a shaggy rug which has an abstract design on it. My guest bedroom is fairly minimalistic and I felt that it needed something to add interest. The ideal thing was a shaggy rug and I chose one in a neutral beige with red and grey swirls. It has the unique texture which is common to all shaggy rugs and is soft underfoot. The red picks up the colour of the pattern in my curtains and duvet colour, while the beige tones in with the walls. The result is a peaceful room with splashes of colour here and there, and my guests often say how comfortable they find it. I have a similar rug in the bathroom, mainly for the softness underfoot as you climb out of the bath, except that the colour tones are blue rather than red. I find shaggy rugs are the ideal complement to all the rooms in my house.

Choosing Wedding Food

So the wedding is booked the venue sorted, how about the wedding food what are you going to do about that?, Are you having a few people for a sit down meal and then a buffet later for the people who are only coming later in the evening.

Or maybe a sit down meal for all, and a buffet later in the evening for all.
Whatever your choice, the wedding food has to be considered carefully.

It is nice to have something a little bit different but can prove difficult if you choose something that a lot of people may not like. For the wedding food it is probably better to have something fairly simple that most people will like especially if it is a sit down meal.

If you are having buffet then the wedding food can contain some more exotic dishes as there should be plenty of choice for all. You will need to think carefully about caterers, some venues will have a short list of caterers who can supply the wedding food and you can expect these to be fairly reliable as they would not be recommended if there had been a problem on a previous occasion.

Now you have to choose what to have for the wedding food, most caterers will have a menu from which you can choose either the formal sit down meal or a buffet and even a hog roast which are proving to be quite popular in recent years although this will obviously depend on the time of year.

Another great thing to remember and always ask your caterer is that some will now actually let you sample the food at a pre-tasting day, these have proved very popular as you get a very good idea of the quality of the wedding food and also the presentation as well. Sometimes something sounds very nice on the menu but when you sample it you realize it is not very practical or in fact you just do not like it even though it sounded wonderful when you read it from the menu.

You can usually take your partner or mother, anyone you like really and they can also sample the food. This can be quite helpful as they may come up with suggestions that you have not even thought off as well as give an honest opinion on what they think. Even if you know exactly what you want it is worth sampling the food as it is a very enjoyable afternoon out, plus its free lunch for all!!

Always ask for references and also ask your friends for recommendations it is important to get this part perfect as this is something that all your guests will remember.

Though hobbies and interests can be really fun, they can also produce a huge amount of messiness and clutter. Craft projects, instruction booklets, as well as other miscellaneous craft materials can frequently take control of your house, that is, unless you are able to strategize a good organizing plan. If you are beginning to feel the weight of too many hobby supplies, here are some tips you can use to get "hobby clutter" completely under control.

Storage Space is Key

Having the correct techniques for storage as well as the ideal containers is very significant when it comes to organizing all of your hobby equipment. Fortunately, there are storage choices available that can be employed for almost anything you need to arrange. There are actually some containers that are particularly designed for specific hobby supplies, like stamp albums, scrapbooking storage folders made of paper, or organized containers divided into sections for small crafts such as beading tools. When you are picking the correct storage container for your supplies, make sure you consider the size you need, as well as the features you will find useful for your purpose. One example is, if you do something such as scrapbooking in one area in particular, a nice large storage cupboard might be just the thing you need. On the other hand, if you often go to scrapbooking parties, you may want a more portable storage container to accommodate your needs. If you want your storage container to be useful to you, then it must be simple to use and also well fitted to provide what you need.

Don't Hide What You May Well Exhibit

There's no good reason to put things in storage when you can display them easily enough. As one example, if you are a post card collector, you can display them excellently in picture frames. Or, if you enjoy looking at your memorabilia but do not like to leave them out on public display, try taking digital photos of them. Once you have an assortment of photos that you are happy with, you can upload them to an electronic photo frame specially designed to loop through all of the pictures, which you can then display on a shelf. If you gather seashells, use some of them to create lovely crafts that you can work with to decorate your house. Picture frames can also be useful for photo collections, sports card collections, stamp collections, and much more.

Planning Organized Work Places

At times the only reason an area becomes cluttered is because your work area is simply ineffective. If you are lucky enough to have a spare room that you are able to devote to your hobby, you will be able to create a work space or surface that will give you plenty of space in which to work. You might be surprised how much more fun your hobby is when you no longer have to put things away each and every time the family has to use the dining room table. Organizer bins, filing cabinets, storage boxes and wall shelves can all be useful for helping keep supplies nicely under control. Also, if your hobby tends to be more on the sloppy side, make sure you protect the floor and any table surfaces if necessary in order to prevent unnecessary damage, and keep a trash can nearby.

You will love these useful hints that will get your hobby clutter under control in no time.

Six Tips for Optimal Garage Storage

When you are setting up your garage storage, there are six important things that you should do for optimal success in access and organization of your garage. Let's take a look at these six tips and some examples that apply to most of us.

  1. Organize your stuff by topic, just like you would in a filing cabinet. The same principles apply, just on a lager scale. Some common things that you may need garage storage for include: gardening tools and supplies, sports equipment, Christmas and other holiday decorations, regular household tools, and kid's outdoor toys.
  2. Within each category of items, consider how often you need to access each item. For example, among your sporting items, you may have things like racquetball rackets that you use all year long, skis and snowboards that are only used during the winter, bikes that are access spring through late fall, as well as other seasonal sporting items such as equipment for baseball and football which may be accessed off and on during the entire year.
  3. Consider all the garage storage options available, and what will work best for each group of items. Looking at the sporting items again, you may want hanging baskets to keep various balls in, and hooks to hang skis and snowboards up high during the off season. For your gardening items, you may want hooks to hang often used tools on the wall, or cabinets that can be locked for keeping fertilizers or bug sprays out of reach from children. These types of cabinets are also good for locking away stains, paints, mineral oil etc. There are also special bike hooks and pulley systems to store them out of the way during the winter. Some good basic garage storage options that can be used in any home are shelves and storage bins.
  4. When storing things away, consider how often you will need to access them. Things that are only used once or twice a year can be placed in bins and on high shelves. This is especially great for things like Christmas decorations. If your garage is small and space is at a premium, you can use overhead garage storage options. These nifty solutions allow you to hang bins from you garage ceiling, or there are actual shelves that hang from the ceiling. This is great for seasonal and keep sake items that are only accessed once or twice a year.

Things that you use regularly, should obviously be down low and easy to get at. Garden tools should be near the door, preferably on hooks and shelves where you can easily see what you have and where it is. Regular household tools should be on cabinets or shelves,or hung on pegboards where you can easily see what you have, and should be located next to the door going into the house. This makes it really easy for sending kids out to the garage to grab a screwdriver or wrench.
  5. Label you bins and cabinets so anybody can find anything easily without looking through everything.
  6. Put anything that you use back into its proper place when you are done. This may seem obvious, but for some, this is hard to do. If you have kids, you know what I mean. When you take your clothes off at night, put them away or in the laundry. Easy concept, but how often at the end of a week is your child's room a mess? The same applies to the garage, if you put something away after you use it, you avoid the clutter and mess that so easily takes over a garage.
Well, hopefully these five tips will be helpful. There is nothing magical about them, but if you apply them to your organizing your garage, you will find that your garage storage solutions are successful.

Selecting the Best Kitchen Chairs

Article Word Count: 597

Kitchen chairs are an important part of the heart of the home. A kitchen table is often meant to provide an additional eating or cooking space, and kitchen chairs should always match the table. Additionally, the kitchen chairs and table should also match the other cabinets and appliances in the kitchen. Selecting the right table and chairs brings harmony and peace within this most important room of the house. Here are some other things that should be kept in mind while shopping for the perfect kitchen chairs.

Usually the best way to purchase kitchen chairs is in a set with a kitchen table, but if you are purchasing kitchen chairs separate from the table, then it is important to keep several style factors in mind. Above all, make sure that the chairs match the table. They should match in look and in size. Try sitting at the table with the chairs you are considering. This will show you whether these particular chairs will be comfortable with the table you intend to match them with. While there is a certain standard height for kitchen tables, sometimes differences in thicknesses or construction of the table can make some chairs uncomfortable with certain tables.

In addition to matching the kitchen table, also try to look for a style that will match the kitchen cabinets and appliances. Styles can be contemporary and modern, rustic and country, or sleek and urban. There are about as many styles as you can think of words to describe them, so there should be no problem discovering a style that will match the kitchen you already have.

Quality Construction

Another important aspect of kitchen chairs is the construction. Some retailers are so proud of the quality of their chairs that they allow the salesman to jump on them in order to show just how well-made the chairs are. A good sign of quality construction in a wood chair is solid wood. To check for solid wood, test the weight of the chair. If it feels rather heavy, then there is a good chance that it is made from solid wood. For metal chairs, weight is also a good sign. High quality metal tends to be very dense and heavy compared to very low quality metal.

Saving Money

Of course everyone always wants to save money, and there are a few things you can do to save some money on kitchen chairs. First, always check out the damaged section of your local retail store. Many stores have a section of chairs that have just a small scratch on them. These small scratches do nothing to damage the overall durability of the chair, but they do mean big bucks in savings. This is also a great way to find a couple of extra kitchen chairs that will only be used when company is coming over. You also might consider looking to the scratch and dent section for a replacement chair if one ever does happen to break.

Another great way to save a lot of money on kitchen chairs is by looking for closeout items. As with all retailers, furniture sellers also want to clear out their warehouses when it is time to end one line of furniture and start a new one. In some cases, it may be very difficult to tell the difference between the items they are closing out and the new ones that are coming in. Also chairs that are being closed out but do not match any of the tables they currently have can usually be picked up for a real bargain.

Developing Family Traditions

Nearly every family has a couple of special family customs that they enjoy. Most times these traditions tend to be centered on holidays or special events. But bear in mind that you can create a special custom even if it is not a special occasion. You may even discover that the most simple traditions are the ones you love the most. If you'd like to create a few family traditions to take pleasure in, here are a few easy ideas to help you get started.

Family Date Night

Setting aside one evening a month as a "family date night" can be a custom that all of your family members will enjoy. You may use this time to cultivate your family member's relationships whether you choose to see a movie, eat dinner out, play some sports or simply take a walk in your neighborhood park. And do not forget to carry your camera with you whatever you choose to do, because pictures of your loved ones having fun together will look wonderful when you present them in fun picture frames. Even if you just order a pizza and enjoy a DVD in the family room, family date night will probably become one of your most treasured family traditions. It's essential to remember that you don't have to spend a great deal of money to have a good time with each other. An inexpensive or even free activity can be just as pleasurable as a much more expensive activity.

Go Grocery Store Shopping Together

While you may often wish to go shopping without having the extra effort of bringing your family with you, shopping with your family can actually be quite enjoyable. Though going on your own may be quicker, everybody will enjoy it much more if they can pick out their own foods. You can even educate your kids whilst you shop by teaching them about health and choosing the correct things to eat.

Family Exercise Time

If you have a hard time maintaining fitness by yourself, you might find it more pleasurable to exercise as a family. Whether you choose to walk around your neighborhood, take part together in a sport, or join a fitness center, exercising together can be a great family custom. Sports events can also be a wonderful opportunity to take a few action pictures of the family having fun with time together. Show off some of your favorite photos in silver picture frames in your home to remind you of how dedicated your family is to being fit and healthy.

Create a Family Picture Album

Many families have a huge amount of photos but they tuck them away in storage canisters and drawers. You're sure to enjoy your pictures more if you can take them out of storage and put them into a book. If your pictures are currently a jumble, schedule a few family work sessions to help get them sorted out. Then work with your loved ones to put your pictures nicely into one or two albums. If you discover a few photos you especially like then maybe you should show them in family picture frames through your house. When your pictures are all arranged, keep your photo album up to date with your family as a tradition.

You will find it easy and pleasurable to start your very own family traditions based on these ideas. Get going today!
